Government Incentives

Every dollar the government owes your roof.

Every solar rebate and battery incentive available in Victoria right now, in plain English: what each scheme is actually worth, who qualifies, and how we claim them all for you — before you pay a cent.

The Big One

Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program — ~30% off

Since July 2025, the Commonwealth discounts roughly 30% off the installed cost of an eligible home battery. On a typical 13.5kWh system, that’s thousands of dollars — deducted from your quote up front, not refunded later.

Who qualifies

  • You own the property (homes, small businesses and community facilities are all in scope).
  • The battery is on the approved product list, between 5kWh and 100kWh.
  • It’s paired with new or existing solar panels.
  • Installation is done by an accredited installer — that’s us.

Why timing matters

The discount rate is tied to the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme and steps down every calendar year until it ends in 2030. Each year you wait, the same battery costs more. Signing a quote locks your install into the current rate.

One more thing: the rebate can be combined with state incentives — including Solar Victoria support — and we apply the stack automatically.

For Solar Panels

STCs — the discount already baked into every panel quote

Small-scale Technology Certificates are the federal incentive for rooftop solar. The bigger your system and the sunnier your zone, the more certificates it earns — typically worth a few thousand dollars on a family-sized system.

No forms for you

We calculate your STC value, deduct it from your quote, and handle the certificate creation and trade. The price you see is the price after the discount.

It shrinks annually

Like the battery rebate, STC value reduces each January as the scheme winds down toward 2030. Earlier installs earn more certificates.

Approved gear only

STCs only apply to Clean Energy Council listed panels and inverters installed by accredited professionals — the only kind we fit anyway.

Victorian Extras

Solar Victoria — up to $1,400 plus an interest-free loan

Eligible Victorian owner-occupiers can claim the state solar panel rebate on top of the federal schemes, with the option of an interest-free loan matching the rebate amount. Income and property value caps apply — we confirm your eligibility as part of your free quote so there are no surprises.

What the stack looks like

A Victorian family installing a 6.6kW solar system with a 13.5kWh battery could combine:

$1,000s

STC discount

Deducted from the solar system price automatically.

~30%

Federal battery rebate

Off the installed battery cost, at the current-year rate.

Up to $1,400

Solar Victoria rebate

For eligible owner-occupiers, plus an optional interest-free loan.

Common Questions

Rebate questions, straight answers

Rebate rules change, and sales reps love to blur the details. Ask us anything — if we don’t know, we’ll find out rather than guess.

More on our FAQ page
Yes — that’s one of the most common cases we install. Your existing panels stay, we add a compatible battery, and the ~30% federal discount applies to the battery and installation.
Neither, really — it works as an upfront discount on your quote. You never pay the full price and wait for a refund. The amount you see on an AHM Solar quote is what you actually pay.
Rebate rates are set per calendar year. If a step-down is approaching, we’ll tell you the exact deadline your install needs to meet — and whether it’s realistically achievable before you commit.
The federal battery program covers properties you own, including some investment scenarios. State schemes have their own rules for rentals. Tell us your situation and we’ll map exactly which schemes apply.

Rebates checked, paperwork lodged, zero guesswork.

One enquiry gets you a fixed-price quote with every eligible rebate already applied.
